Blast from the Past - Good News at Last!

Also today, I've noticed last years Royal Tern has been accepted as well. So what better way to celebrate this news than by posting some pictures! A day in Staffordshire today saw visits to Blithfield, Branston GP and then to Chasewater where the Franklin's Gull was again present. I hoped for better views than on Thursday but it was not to be.

Franklin's Gull, Chasewater 15th July 2010

A phone call from PJ had me hurtling down the M6 at 19-00hrs following the finding of Staffordshire 2nd ever Franklin's Gull. This was a full summer plumage adult, but it spent most of the time asleep. I managed a few pictures of it sleeping plus some shots of Chasewater now it is drained.

10th July 2010 - Westport Lake

Managed to re-locate the Nuthatch at Westport again this morning. This is only 4th record for the site. I was able to get a few record shots of it, and there was an unseasonal adult Common Gull present - a most unusual mid summer sighting.
